Stratford council appoints John Jamieson as new CAO, effective Oct. 14

Stratford council has appointed John Jamieson as the town's chief administrative officer, the top unelected job at town hall, effective Oct. 14. Council approved the appointment by resolution at a special meeting on Sept. 23, according to a Town of Stratford media release.

Jamieson comes to the job from the Town of Three Rivers, where he was CAO and led what the release describes as a growing municipal organization through investments in infrastructure, community services, development and organizational modernization. He has also served as deputy minister of agriculture and fisheries and deputy minister of rural and regional development with the Government of Prince Edward Island, and was president and CEO of the Canadian Centre for Food Integrity.

Ogden also used the announcement to mark a change in the town's front office. The mayor recognized the death of Jeremy Crosby earlier this year and the work of town staff under Jeremy Pierce, who has filled in as acting CAO during the interim.

Jamieson has held senior leadership roles with the PEI Federation of Agriculture and several provincial Crown corporations, according to the release. He and his wife, MJ, live in Stratford.
