The City of Saskatoon says 3rd Avenue and 25th Street and 4th Avenue and 25th Street will fully reopen to traffic on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, as the Downtown water main project continues. The city announced the reopenings in a release issued Oct. 23.1

The city said 1st Avenue and 25th Street and 2nd Avenue and 25th Street are also open. Access to businesses, residences and properties is being maintained wherever possible, the release says.1

What stays closed

5th Avenue and 25th Street remains fully closed, with reopening anticipated on Oct. 30, according to the city. At 6th Avenue and 25th Street, one westbound lane is operating for traffic travelling from Spadina Crescent toward 6th Avenue, while the eastbound lane from 6th Avenue toward Spadina Crescent remains closed and is anticipated to reopen on Oct. 30.1

The city says some lane restrictions may remain at reopened intersections while crews complete restoration work. Final roadway resurfacing on 25th Street will take place after the remaining construction work is finished.1

Final phase and transit

The final phase of the project will include a water main replacement on 25th Street between 6th Avenue and Spadina Crescent. The city says that work is anticipated to be completed in 2027.1

Saskatoon Transit may be affected by detours. The city points riders to transit service alerts and real-time bus information on third-party apps including Transit and Google Maps Transit on desktop, and to saskatoon.ca/construction for road restriction information and the Daily Road Report.1
