Sony unveils Prism Collection, transparent PS5 controllers and covers, Feb. 4, 2027
Sony Interactive Entertainment says the Prism Collection brings back the see-through look of the late 1990s in three colours for DualSense controllers and PlayStation 5 console covers, with pre-orders opening Nov. 10, 2026.
Sony Interactive Entertainment will launch the Prism Collection, a line of transparent DualSense wireless controllers and PlayStation 5 console covers, starting on Feb. 4, 2027, the platform holder said in a PlayStation announcement published Oct. 28. The collection comes in three colours: Flare Orange, Emerald Green and Graphite Gray.1
The DualSense controllers will sell for a recommended retail price of $84.99 US, ¥12,480 including tax, €84.99 or £74.99, Sony said. Matching console covers will be available exclusively directly from PlayStation where available, and in other regions in limited quantities through select retailers, at a recommended retail price of $74.99 US, ¥9,980 including tax, €74.99 or £64.99.1
Pre-orders begin on Nov. 10, 2026 at 10 a.m. local time directly from PlayStation where available, as well as at participating retailers, according to the announcement. Sony said the controllers will be available globally.1
Sony said its design teams wanted to bring a transparent appearance to the PlayStation 5 and give players a closer look at the design and craftsmanship behind the DualSense controllers and the consoles. Each colour is finished with a glossy sheen, and the clear finish extends across the back of the controller, showing the technology inside while keeping a monochromatic look.1
We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers. We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PS5’s industrial design.1Leo Cardoso, Color, Material, and Finish design team, Sony Interactive Entertainment
Satoshi Aoyagi, also of the Color, Material, and Finish design team, described how the three colours behave in the transparent material. He said the orange takes on a rosy hue where the material overlaps, the green gains depth through its transparency, and the gray is cool-toned. A metallic finish on the middle cover brings the contrasting surfaces together, he said.1

The announcement is a product and pricing notice rather than a software release: it sets a date, prices in four currencies and a pre-order window for hardware accessories. Sony did not say how many units it will produce or which specific retailers will carry the console covers in regions outside direct PlayStation sales.1
