2nd Dug Hill Road from 155 2nd Dug Hill Road south to Loyalist Parkway will close in both directions starting the week of Nov. 2 and stay closed until spring 2027, the City of Quinte West said in a notice published Oct. 29.1

The city said the existing alternating traffic light will be removed and the stretch will be closed to all through traffic while the road is raised and widened as part of the installation of the underground Trenton trunk sewer. 2nd Dug Hill Road north of the closure area will remain accessible via Highway 2.1

Where the sewer work stands

The new underground trunk sewer is being installed in the west end of Trenton. Construction began in summer 2025 and will continue until fall 2027, the city said.1

Sewer main installation is complete north of Carrying Place Road between Dufferin Avenue and 2nd Dug Hill Road. Construction in the Quinte West City Hall parking lot is near completion, with the parking lot expected to reopen in the coming weeks.1

Work on Fraser Park Drive will continue into the fall and winter. Construction on Dufferin Avenue south of Creswell Drive continues, with alternating lane closures in effect for approximately two months.1
