Mississauga opens urban design review to residents at Nov. 19 open house
The City of Mississauga is inviting residents to an evening session at the Civic Centre as it updates its urban design program, one of several public engagement opportunities listed for November.
Mississauga residents can weigh in on the city's urban design program at an open house on Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Great Hall at Mississauga Civic Centre, the City of Mississauga said in a notice published Oct. 29.1
The city says it is updating the program to meet the needs of a growing city. The session will feature information displays, chances to speak with project staff and interactive feedback activities, with light refreshments provided.1
Registration is not mandatory but is appreciated to help with planning and communicating updates, the city said.1
Music 311 closes Nov. 1
Musicians based in Mississauga have until Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. to apply to Music 311, which each year features 12 songs on the city's 311 call queue lines, council meeting live streams and the MiWay customer information line, among other channels.1
Selected artists receive $300 and promotion on the city's website and social media. Applicants must own the copyright to their song's composition, performance and master recording.1
Two public art calls
The city's Public Art Program is seeking an artist or artist-led team to create a labyrinth-inspired sculpture and accompanying screen for Cooksville and Iggy Kaneff Parks, with applications open until Thursday, Nov. 12, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.1
A second call seeks professional artists or artist-led teams for a permanent artwork at Fairwinds Park, near Cooksville Creek, where the park includes protected wetlands. The project is funded through developer contributions as part of a multi-phase commitment, and applications close Monday, Nov. 23, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.1
Downtown wayfinding booth
In Ward 4, residents can review draft designs, proposed sign locations and content for the Downtown Core Wayfinding Strategy at a booth at Celebration Square on Saturday, Nov. 21 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.1
The city says the strategy builds on an ongoing City-led pilot project to improve signs and maps downtown, aiming to connect destinations, encourage exploration, support economic growth and help pedestrians navigate with confidence.1
Current projects are listed at yoursay.mississauga.ca, the city said.1
