Helldivers 2 Scope of Authority Warbond Deploys Oct 20, Sony Says
Sony Interactive Entertainment says the premium warbond adds a bolt-action sniper rifle, a machine pistol, an anti-materiel rifle and two armour sets to the co-op shooter on October 20.
Sony Interactive Entertainment said the Scope of Authority Premium Warbond for Helldivers 2 will be authorized for deployment on October 20, adding a new tier of long-range and clandestine combat gear to the squad-based shooter. The platform holder announced the release in a post dated Oct. 13, describing the warbond as the next leap forward in long-range and clandestine combat solutions meant to guarantee a squad never misses the mark.1
The centrepiece is the R-40 Sightliner, a bolt-action sniper rifle that Sony said the Ministry of Defense developed after extensive research and trials to balance stability and power. Sony described it as a primary weapon that provides powerful armor piercing rounds and long-range precision. The P-44 Mist, a one-handed machine pistol, is pitched as a compact companion for players who need speed and versatility when enemies close in.1
Two heavier options round out the weapons list. The AMW-20 Apex is a backpack-fed anti-materiel rifle with assisted reload, built to punch through larger and more heavily armored foes. Sony said the Apex is far from subtle, but there is not much in the galaxy that could survive an assault from it. The LAS-44 Nova joins the LAS series of energy weapons, firing a high-precision non-explosive thermal projectile after a short charge cycle and drawing on the infinite ammo typical of its weapon type.1
For the advanced tech-loving teams, there is a new entry to the LAS series of energy weapons: the LAS-44 Nova! This sleek rifle has the luxury of infinite ammo provided by weapons of its type, but it fires a high-precision non-explosive thermal projectile after a short charge cycle.1Sony Interactive Entertainment, in its announcement post
A new optimization routine designed for better cooldown performance means the Nova will keep firing longer after all targets have been eliminated, Sony said. The G-11 Caltrops, a thrown grenade, scatters a wide field of proximity-detonated submunitions that slow and stun foes, making them easier to line up in a scope.1
The warbond also adds two armour sets. The SS-33 Mimetic Marshal is a light armour inspired by old-fashioned ghillie suits, using light-diffusing netting and adaptive fiber technology so players can blend into their surroundings while staying light on their feet. It comes with a coordinating Mimetic Mesh cape and player card. The SS-15 Focal Point is a medium armour for players whose tactical approach leans toward forward marching, with integrated adaptive camouflage and cutting-edge optics.1
Sony framed the release with a scene of Automatons marching on an outpost before a Helldiver opens fire from inside a tree line, busting them down to bolts and puddles of bubbling oil. The Scope of Authority Premium Warbond launches Oct. 20.1
