PEAK, the co-op climbing game from Aggro Crab and Landfall, arrives on Xbox Series X|S
Microsoft Gaming says the game, built by two studios that met at a 2022 developer conference, ships with crossplay and every content update released so far.
PEAK, a cooperative climbing game in which players scale a mountain that changes every day, came out today on Xbox Series X|S, Microsoft Gaming said in a release dated Oct. 22. The game is a collaboration between Aggro Crab, a studio in Seattle, Washington, and Landfall, a studio in Stockholm, Sweden, which the release calls Team PEAK.1
Players take the role of lost nature scouts who crash-land on a mysterious island and must climb the mountain at its centre to be rescued, either alone or in a group. The release says the game is built on working together, with players helping each other up ledges and placing ropes and climbing spikes for those who come after.1

The Xbox version includes crossplay, so a scout troop can form across multiple platforms. It also ships with all content updates released so far, including additional biomes, cosmetics and features, according to Microsoft Gaming.1
The release describes four biomes, each with its own hazards, and a map that rotates every 24 hours. Players scavenge for food and manage injuries, and every setback limits stamina, making the climb harder.1
Aggro Crab is known for Another Crab's Treasure and Going Under; Landfall for Content Warning, Haste, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator and Stick Fight: The Game. The two studios became friends after meeting at a game developer conference in 2022, and after the success of Another Crab's Treasure and Content Warning they decided to collaborate on a small project.1

That project began as a game jam, which the release defines as a timed event where individuals or teams create a game from scratch within a strict deadline, often following a secret or shared theme. The theme was discussed while the developers sat in a hot tub in Sweden, a couple of months before they travelled to South Korea for the jam.1
Three Aggro Crab developers and four Landfall developers worked from a rented apartment in South Korea for a month, the release says. Microsoft Gaming framed the result as a game designed around friendship from the start.1

PEAK was developed with friendship in mind from the very beginning.1Microsoft Gaming
The release lists PEAK at $9.99. It does not say whether the game is available on other platforms beyond the crossplay mention, and it gives no sales or player figures.1
