Valve pushes Steam client update fixing British Columbia date error
The October 21 update also addresses a Steam Service Error dialog, a Remote Play memory leak and several platform-specific bugs.
Valve released a Steam Client update on Oct. 21 that will download automatically, the company said. The update fixes some cases where the Steam Service Error dialog appeared incorrectly when a user quit or restarted Steam quickly, and corrects an error displaying dates for users in British Columbia.1
The update also refreshes certificate revocation lists, the lists a client checks to confirm a security certificate has not been withdrawn. For Remote Play, Valve said it fixed a memory leak when using NVENC, a hardware video encoder, to stream H.264 video at unlimited bandwidth from Windows computers.1
On Linux, the update fixes Vulkan games hanging after alt-tab and a case where the Steam updater interface failed to show for some users. On MacOS, it fixes a client crash when opening some browser windows.1
