Fernbank District Park pop-up consultation set for Oct. 3 at 11 a.m.

A pop-up consultation on the new Fernbank District Park runs Saturday, October 3, beginning at 11:00 am, which is 11 a.m. You can find it at the southeast corner of the Robert Grant Avenue Roundabout at Abbott Street along the Trans Canada Trail, opposite Paul-Demarais. That is not far from where Stittsville's largest park will be located.

The city councillor for the area and the City's parks planning staff will be there to listen to your feedback about the draft park design concept. The in-person event follows an online survey that was available earlier this month.

Fernbank District Park is a central part of the Fernbank Community Design Plan. It is a large, triangular site, over 8 hectares in area, located between Abbott Street, the Trans Canada Trail, the Hydro corridor and Clintonia Street, and Rouncey Road.

The draft design concept includes combined junior and senior play areas with sand play, a splash pad, a football field with lighting, a cricket pitch for tapeball, tennis and pickleball courts with lighting, a soccer field, a fitness area, an outdoor rink with permanent boards, lighting and a puddle skating area plus a basketball court, an off-leash dog area and a parking lot.

It also lists a designated future all-wheels area, a designated future fieldhouse, shade structures and gathering areas, and a park pathway and community pedestrian connection network. A link to view the full plan is included in the notice.
