Applications are open for the City of Edmonton's 2027 Civic Youth Fellowship, the city said. The program gives young Edmontonians from underrepresented communities hands-on municipal government experience, leadership skills and a role in real city work.1

Fellows receive mentorship, leadership development and a paid 10-week placement with the City of Edmonton. They work alongside elected officials, city leaders and teams on projects and priorities affecting Edmonton. No prior experience in politics or government is required.1

Starting in 2027, the fellowship expands opportunities for young First Nations, Métis and Inuit leaders through a partnership with the city's Indigenous Relations Office. That office will also coordinate placement opportunities for selected fellows to contribute to city work connected to Indigenous priorities, initiatives and relationships. Applicants can indicate their interest in these placements during the application process.1

Applicants must be aged 19 to 30. Applications close at 11:59 p.m. on October 18, and late applications will not be accepted.1
