Calgary police investigate Cedarbrae collision that left one person seriously hurt

Calgary police say one person suffered life-threatening injuries when a parked vehicle rolled backward in the southwest community of Cedarbrae and struck them. Officers responded to reports of the rolling vehicle in the 0-100 block of Cedardale Hill S.W. at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, according to a City of Calgary newsroom release.

Police believe the vehicle struck the victim and knocked them to the ground. The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Second person injured trying to stop vehicle

A second person tried to enter the moving vehicle to stop it and was knocked down, police say. That person suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The Traffic Section continues to investigate. Police say it is too early to confirm what contributed to the collision, and all possible factors remain under investigation.

Police seek witnesses

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
