Calgary Transit will operate buses, CTrains and On Demand on a Sunday level of service on Thanksgiving Monday, Oct. 12, the City of Calgary said. On-street ParkPlus zones will be free that day, while weekend rates apply at Calgary Parking parkades and surface lots.1

The Calgary Parking Contact Centre and Impound Lot will be closed on Oct. 12. Regular rates remain in effect at partner lots including TELUS Spark, the Calgary Stampede, Calgary Zoo and Heritage Park.1

Free skating and swimming

The city is offering free family skating on Oct. 12 from 1 to 2:15 p.m. and 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. at Shouldice Arena, Stu Peppard Arena, Murray CoPot Arena and Rose Kohn/Jimmie Condon Arena. Equipment rentals are not available.1

Free family swimming runs Oct. 12 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Glenmore Aquatic Centre and Thornhill Aquatic & Recreation Centre. Weight rooms will also be open during those times.1

Due to the popularity of our free swims, we ask that you only attend one time slot. Pools may be cleared at 2:30p.m. to make room for new customers.1City of Calgary

Transit disruptions

The Red Line will be closed between Chinook and Heritage stations from Oct. 10 to 12 for work on multiple projects, with shuttle buses replacing CTrain service. Full service is scheduled to resume at those stations by the start of service on Tuesday, Oct. 13.1

The Blue Line will run a single track on parts of the West LRT from Oct. 10 until the early morning of Oct. 12, affecting 69 Street Station and the 45 Street to Shaganappi Point stations. The city asks customers to watch displays and listen for announcements to ensure they are on the correct platform.1

Golf and road work

Driving ranges and golf courses are open, and Oct. 12 is the final day to golf at McCall Par 3. Courses will be closed Oct. 10 and 11 due to below-zero temperatures and are set to reopen Oct. 12, with status updates at calgary.ca/golfschedule.1

Road closures may affect travel, including a full closure on 3 Street S.W. and multi-lane closures on 5 Avenue S.W. for ENMAX manhole work, and a full closure on Ogden Road S.E. between Millican Road and 68 Street S.E. for Green Line utility work.
