Amherst closes Church Street for week of sidewalk work

The town will replace brick pavers in front of the CIBC, closing Church Street between King Street and Princess Street daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Amherst public works will replace the sidewalk on Church Street in front of the CIBC starting Monday, Sept. 21, closing the street between King Street and Princess Street for the full week, the Town of Amherst said in a notice published Sept. 18.

Barricades will be in place each day, with the closure beginning at 7 a.m. and an anticipated re-opening time of 7 p.m. every night. Drivers are encouraged to plan an alternate route.

The work is part of the 2026-2027 capital budget and was identified because the existing brick pavers are in poor condition and deteriorating. The project has a budget of $10,000.
