560 Hazeldean rezoning heads to Ottawa committee Oct. 7

The City of Ottawa's Planning and Housing Committee will consider a zoning bylaw amendment at 560 Hazeldean Road on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, according to a city notice. The application would rezone the site, currently used as a golf practice facility, to allow 98 homes: 50 single detached homes and 48 townhomes.

The proposal also includes an Arterial Mainstreet Zone for the northern portion of the site along Hazeldean Road. A future Site Plan Control application, a separate approval stage that reviews building design and site layout, will be submitted for a residential and mixed-use development block there.

How to comment before the meeting

Residents can submit written comments to the committee coordinator by email until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, and those comments will be provided to committee and council members before the meeting. Comments received after that time will be forwarded as soon as possible and before council's final consideration later in the month, but may not reach committee members before October 7.

Verbal comments can be transcribed in advance by calling the committee coordinator by 4 p.m. on October 6 at 613-580-2424, extension 16875. To speak at the meeting, residents can register by phone by 4 p.m. on October 6 or by email before 8:30 a.m. on October 7.

The city notice also says residents can contact Councillor Glen with questions or concerns. The planning department's recommendation report will be circulated to the public on October 1, 2026, and more information, including all documents related to the application, is available on the city's DevApps page.

What happens next

The committee will consider the rezoning on October 7, and council will make a final decision on the item later in the month. The number of homes that would be built, and when construction would start, is not stated in the notice.
