Ottawa puts $5 million into HIV self-testing and peer support

The federal government announced the funding on Sept. 10, saying it is meant to improve HIV prevention and support services.

The Government of Canada announced a $5 million investment to improve HIV prevention and support services, according to a government news release published Sept. 10.1

Doug Eyolfson, Member of Parliament for Winnipeg West, announced the funding on behalf of the Honourable Marjorie Michel, Minister of Health, the release says. Dr. Joss Reimer, the Chief Public Health Officer of Canada, appeared alongside him.1

The release does not say how the money will be divided, which organizations will receive it or when it will be spent.1
