The City of Iqaluit's online portal for 2027 business licence renewals opened on Nov. 4, 2026, the city said in a public service announcement. Business owners are encouraged to submit renewal applications by Jan. 31, 2027 to take advantage of a discounted renewal fee.1

Applications received on or after Feb. 1, 2027 will be subject to the full renewal fee, the city said. The announcement did not state the amount of either fee.1

Deadline and penalties

Under the City of Iqaluit Business Licensing By-Law No. 859, all businesses must hold a valid 2027 licence by Feb. 15, 2027 to avoid penalties, according to the announcement. Applications submitted after that date will also be charged a $50 administrative fee in addition to the regular renewal fee.1

The city said it launched a new online Business License Portal last year, powered by Cloud Permit. The platform is now used for all business licence applications and renewals, offering what the city described as a more efficient and accessible experience for applicants.1

All active licence holders have been sent a renewal guide by email from d.gagne@iqaluit.ca to their listed contact email, the city said. The portal is at ca.cloudpermit.com/iqaluit/, and the city's website has more information.1

In-person help at City Hall

The Economic Development Officer will be available at City Hall for drop-in support, the city said. The officer will be on hand Nov. 9 to 13 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Nov. 17 to 26 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.1

Business owners with questions about the portal or who need assistance can contact the Economic Development Officer, Dominik Gagné, at 867-979-5607 or D.Gagne@iqaluit.ca, the city said.1
