Saskatoon police say a Sunday morning traffic stop in the 1700 block of 20th Street West led to weapons charges against a 33-year-old man and an obstruction charge against a 29-year-old man.
Two men have been arrested and face charges after Saskatoon police say a traffic stop in the 1700 block of 20th Street West on Sunday morning turned up open alcohol, unstamped tobacco, ammunition and a loaded improvised firearm.1
The Saskatoon Police Service said officers conducted the stop on a suspicious vehicle on Oct. 11, 2026, at approximately 10:10 a.m. Officers approached the vehicle and observed open alcohol and unstamped tobacco inside, and four passengers were subsequently arrested under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act.1
Police said officers believed the driver had provided a false name. A search of the vehicle resulted in police locating ammunition and a loaded improvised firearm, the service said.1
As officers began to arrest one of the men for the weapons offence, the man attempted to deploy bear spray at officers, according to the service. No police officers were injured as a result of the incident, police said.1
Officers were also able to identify the driver of the vehicle, who was found to be wanted on multiple outstanding warrants, the service said.1
The driver, a 29-year-old man, has been charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer. A 33-year-old man has been charged with numerous firearms related charges, along with Resisting Arrest, Breach of Court-Imposed Conditions and Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon.1
Both men are scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on October 13, 2026, according to the service. The charges have not been proven in court.1
