Transit revenue up 11.2 per cent to $33.9 billion in 2024
Urban transit agencies drove more than three-quarters of the increase, Statistics Canada reports, as the sector continues to recover from the pandemic.
Total revenue for passenger bus and urban transit companies operating in Canada rose 11.2 per cent year over year to $33.9 billion in 2024, Statistics Canada reported July 22, 2026. Urban transit agencies accounted for more than three-quarters of the increase, at $2.6 billion.1
All segments of the sector continue to recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the agency said, though at different rates. The release does not give revenue figures for individual segments or regions.1
