Supplemental Canada Disability Benefit payments to begin in September
The federal government says supplemental payments under the Canada Disability Benefit start in September, framed as a move to reduce barriers to financial and economic security for persons with disabilities.
Supplemental Canada Disability Benefit payments will begin in September, the Government of Canada said in a notice published Sept. 10, 2026. The notice states that persons with disabilities are more likely to face barriers to financial and economic security than Canadians without disabilities.1
The government said it is focused on reducing barriers to accessing support so that persons with disabilities have greater opportunities to participate fully in their communities and the economy. It also said Canada is stronger when everyone has the chance to contribute and thrive.1
