Peace River RCMP arrested an impaired driver on Sept. 18, 2026, after a pursuit in which the suspect allegedly threatened to shoot a member of the public and police, according to an RCMP K Division release published Sept. 29, 2026.

The release states that Peace River RCMP, assisted by Alberta RCMP Police Dog services, responded to a call about the driver, who was believed to have a shotgun with him. Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect fled, according to the release.

Alberta RCMP RTOC was engaged and approved the use of a tire deflation device, which was successfully deployed, the release says. The vehicle kept moving forward and, given the gravity of the threats, the vehicle was rammed and the suspect was taken into custody, according to the release.

The release says the Alberta RCMP PDS member was injured during the ramming and arrest. The suspect sustained minor injuries from a dog bite during the arrest and was treated immediately, according to the release.

A shotgun was found in the rear of the suspect vehicle, the release states.
