Ottawa launches Black Canadian Communities Program

The federal government says Black-led organizations face barriers to getting the resources they need, and it is putting money toward that gap.

Black-led, Black-serving and Black-focused organizations across Canada now have a federal program aimed at them, the government said Sunday.1

The Government of Canada announced the Black Canadian Communities Program on Sept. 20, 2026. The government said the program is an investment in those organizations so they can keep supporting their communities and reach more people.1

The government said many of these groups are driving meaningful change but still face barriers to getting the resources they need to maintain and grow their work. It said Canada is stronger when everyone has the opportunity to contribute to their communities.1
