Ontario announced $8 billion in proposed tax measures on Oct. 28, calling the package the Ontario Competitiveness Tax Cut. The province said the measures would help Ontario stand up to tariffs by building a more competitive, resilient and self-reliant economy.1

The government said the cut would support investment and create 30,000 jobs. The measures are proposed, not in force; the announcement did not say when they would take effect or whether legislation is required.1
