New vehicle registrations hit 547,673 in Q2, highest since 2019

Statistics Canada reports registrations rose 1.1 per cent year over year and 37.7 per cent from the first quarter of 2026.

Canadians registered 547,673 new motor vehicles in the second quarter of 2026, up 1.1 per cent from the second quarter of 2025 and 37.7 per cent from the first quarter of 2026, according to Statistics Canada.

The agency said the quarterly total was the highest level since the second quarter of 2019. The figures were published Sept. 8.
