Mass casualty events accounted for 0.1 per cent of police-reported violent crime in Canada from 2010 to 2024, according to Statistics Canada. The agency counted 5,475 such events over the period, defining them as intentional acts of violence in which four or more victims sustained minor or major physical injury, or died.1
Of those 5,475 events, 3.3 per cent involved four or more victims who sustained major physical injury or died. Statistics Canada published the figures on June 18, 2026.1
