Highway 40 closed near Grande Prairie after tanker fire

Grande Prairie RCMP say they are on scene of a motor vehicle collision involving a semi-truck transporting diesel fuel on Highway 40, near North Imperial road, and that the tanker is on fire.

No major injuries have been reported, according to the RCMP. The force says Highway 40 will be closed in the area while emergency crews respond.

The public is asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel, the RCMP said.
