Hamilton Police Charge 18-Year-Old With Attempted Murder After Shooting

Hamilton Police have charged an 18-year-old Hamilton man with attempted murder following a targeted shooting that left two people injured, the service said in a release dated Sept. 21, 2026.

Darien Wilson, 18, was arrested shortly after the shooting, according to the release. Police say he faces attempted murder, discharge firearm with intent to injure, reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm while loaded, possession of a restricted firearm knowing its possession was unauthorized, and two counts of aggravated assault.

A firearm was also recovered, the release states. Police say the Shooting Response Team has assumed carriage of the investigation and believes the shooting was targeted.

On Friday, Sept. 18, 2026, at approximately 2:12 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of King Street East and Lawrence Road following reports of a shooting, according to the release. Patrol officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds and provided assistance, and both were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Homicide Unit is now assisting with the investigation following the laying of the attempted murder charge, the release states. Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information, or who may have dash camera, residential security or cellphone video from the area at the time of the shooting, to contact investigators.
