The Edmonton Police Service says it is investigating a fatal collision involving a cyclist that took place in central Edmonton late last month, and that no charges have been laid at this time.
According to the service, police responded at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, to a collision in the area of 81 Avenue and 106 Street. It was reported to police that a 27-year-old female was riding a bicycle on 106 Street when she was struck by a delivery truck as it was travelling west on 81 Avenue.
The driver remained on scene and did not report any injuries at the time, the service says. EMS transported the woman to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and she succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026.
Investigators with the EPS Major Collision Investigations Section do not believe speed or alcohol were a factor in this collision, according to the service. Investigators continue to review the circumstances of the collision and have issued violations for failing to stop under the Traffic Safety Act.
