Canada's merchandise trade surplus narrows to $769 million in July

Exports fell 2.3 per cent while imports rose 2.2 per cent, cutting the surplus from $4.2 billion in June. It was the fifth consecutive monthly surplus.

Canada's merchandise trade surplus with the world narrowed to $769 million in July from $4.2 billion in June, Statistics Canada reported Sept. 3. Exports decreased 2.3 per cent in the month while imports rose 2.2 per cent.1

The agency said July was the fifth consecutive monthly trade surplus. The figures are not identified as seasonally adjusted or unadjusted in the source.1
