Canada invests in 31 new projects to improve the health of the Great Lakes

Ottawa says the funding flows through the Great Lakes Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative, which backs restoration and protection work.

Canada announced an investment of $420 million over 10 years, starting in 2023, through the Great Lakes Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative, to accelerate the restoration and protection of the Great Lakes, according to the Government of Canada. The announcement, published Sept. 9, covers 31 new projects.1
