The BC Wildfire Service has begun removing tree limbs up to three metres high near the Northstar Interchange, south of Quesnel adjacent to Highway 97. The agency said crews started preparing the area in mid-October.1

The work is a fuel-management measure, done with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and Emcon Services Inc. Cut vegetation will be left to cure over the winter to support a grass burn planned for the spring.1

The BC Wildfire Service said the objectives are to reduce wildfire risk around Quesnel, restore grassland and forest health, and strengthen collaboration among the three organizations.1
